Today is World Catholic Education Day! Lakeland Catholic celebrates the sacred mission of Catholic education - where faith is lived, truth is boldly upheld, and Christ is the centre of all we do. We give thanks for the gift of publicly funded Catholic education, where students are formed in mind, body, and spirit. Lakeland Catholic prays for all students, staff, families, and leaders who witness the Gospel each day through teaching, learning, and service. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide our schools in wisdom, grace, and truth.

World Catholic Education Day 2025
This Thursday, May 29, we invite all school communities to wear blue in honour of World Catholic Education Day and in devotion to Mary, Mother of God. In the Catholic tradition, blue symbolizes piety, sincerity, and the faithful motherhood of Mary. As Catholic educators, we look to Mary as our model - gentle in love, bold in faith, and devoted to her Son, our saviour, Jesus Christ.

Let us rejoice in the gift of Catholic education - shared in classrooms, lived in faith, and led by Christ.

LCSD has excellence in teaching! In Ms. Warshawski’s ELA 20-1 class, students brought Macbeth to life through creative, hands-on projects that showcased their understanding of the play. With guiding themes and reflection questions, each student explored the story in a unique and meaningful way - a testament to Ms. Warshawski’s inspiring approach to teaching. Pictured here are LCSD’s new Deputy Superintendent of System Excellence, Jody Seymour, and NDHS Principal, Vince Spila, who stopped by to celebrate the incredible learning taking place in her classroom. We’re proud to celebrate exceptional teaching that inspires students to think deeply, explore creatively, and learn meaningfully.

Lakeland Catholic Schools Mourns Pope Francis Novena for the Repose of His Holiness (Day 9) Merciful and loving God, We come before You with hearts full of gratitude and sorrow as we remember Your servant, Pope Francis. You called him to be a shepherd to Your people, a voice for the poor, and a sign of Your mercy to the world. As we entrust him to Your eternal care, we ask You to welcome him into the joy of Your heavenly kingdom. Grant him peace, and give us strength to carry forward the light of his witness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Prayer for the Church: As we commend Pope Francis to Your mercy, we pray for the Church he loved and served. May the Holy Spirit guide those who will choose the next pope. May the Church continue to shine with the light of Christ, inspired by Pope Francis’s life of service, humility, and love. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be… Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, Through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. #IBelieveinCatholicEd
