This Advent Season, one of our Grade 5 Students presented a new Social Justice project for our school to take on - The Elf Challenge! How it works is each class could "Elf" another class by place the Elf poster on any classrooms door and that classroom then would have to come up with a way to spread kindness! Some of the Acts of Kindness included praying for others, making Christmas Cards for all staff, Our Grade 7 Immersion class joining the Kindergarten class at École Notre Dame Elementary to Read and make Christmas Cards for the residents of Extendicare, Candy-Canes and chocolates for each other, and coffee and teas for staff.

We're so proud of our students for their role in bringing the Stations of the Crib performance to life! Each station beautifully reflected Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem, and reminded us of the significance of 'Keeping Christ in Christmas.' Their exceptional performance made it a memorable start to the Christmas break. A special thank you to Mrs. Drapaka and Mrs. Deibert as well for their dedicated work in making this performance a success. We couldn't have done it without you!

Check out this Student to Teacher Feature! Marie Theroux is a teacher at Dr. Bernard Brosseau School! Before graduating from École Notre Dame High, she attend École Notre Dame Elementary and Dr. Bernard Brosseau! "I made the decision to return to Lakeland Catholic District because I wanted to remain close to home. My time within the school system left me with positive memories and a genuine appreciation for the atmosphere. The desire to be a part of that community and contribute to the educational environment led me back to this district. I find fulfillment in being part of an institution that played a significant role in my own development." #LCSDJoy

Deck the Halls! The Dr. Brosseau Student Leadership team and friends took to the halls of Dr. B to decorate the school and spread some Christmas cheer! It's starting to look a lot like Christmas around here!

We have another from Student to Teacher Feature! Former Lakeland Catholic student Stephanie Tellier is now a French Immersion teacher at Dr. Brosseau School! "I always knew that I wanted to return to Lakeland Catholic to begin my teaching career! I feel so blessed to be able to work alongside some of my former teachers and to be surrounded by so many familiar faces every single day. I look forward to the years to come!" #LCSDJoy

Children lack the life experience of adults and have fewer strategies to cope with stress, however, we can teach them mental and physical strategies to relieve stress and how to better respond to stressful situations. Lakeland Family Resource Network, Bonnyville and District FCSS, and Lakeland Catholic School Division are offering two Kids Have Stress Too information sessions. Childcare is available! Join us for one of two sessions: Monday, December 4 at École Notre Dame Elementary (targeted for Preschool to Grade 4) and/or Tuesday, December 5 at Dr. Brosseau School (targeted for Grades 5 through 9). This From Student to Staff feature is... Anick Croteau! Now working at our central office as our secretary, Anick attended École Notre Dame Elementary, Dr. Bernard Brosseau, and École Notre Dame High! "When I returned to Bonnyville in 2010 after living in Edmonton for 15 years, to me, the ideal place to seek work would be at Lakeland Catholics Schools. It was a sense of familiarity as I come from several generations of people that have worked for this school division. I've been here now almost ten years and hope to have many more years serving Lakeland Catholic." #LCSDJoy

This From Student to Teacher feature is... Rachelle Allen! Rachelle was once a student at École Notre Dame Elementary School, and is now a teacher at the school! She also attended Dr. Bernard Brosseau School and École Notre Dame High School. "I came back to Bonnyville after graduating University in Edmonton because of a maternity leave position that opened up. When I was welcomed by such an amazing and supportive team I knew this was the place to lay my roots." #LCSDJoy
